***Directions for costumes***
(note, this does not address cost of anything regarding what we have currently purchased… Please address those questions to Bill Munn)
============================
---If you received your outfit, keep it safe.
---If you have not received your outfit, you will receive it this Friday or at the next rehearsal you attend. You can also work out a time to meet up with Chris and get your costume from him directly.
============================
About the current outfits
Many of the outfits received Friday look really good. Some are pretty awesome… Extremely cool. All are from the 70s, but some don't really look like something you'd wear to a disco. But They are authentic, which is what the company promised.
Many of them obviously you can tell do not fit, or just feel and look uncomfortable. For instance, most of the pants are really weird the way they fit. Mine are five sizes too large. We may have to swap around some pants and find some others, and likely do some alterations. We will talk with you about that.
Don't worry… We will make sure you look great walking on stage. Chris Gregory, Dan Delaney, David McEachern and I are making sure each guy looks awesome as if attending a disco or a session of soul train! (or.....Night fever… With host Bill Munn!)
The current outfits are a great starting point but some adjustments need to be made for many guys. Hang in there with us. We will have everything sorted out by our final dress rehearsal on June 23.
And again, questions about cost involved please addressed with Bill Munn, Michael, or Stephen Burke.
============================
Dress Rehearsals from here on out:
Everyone bring your costume items to each rehearsal from here on out. You don't need to wear them to each rehearsal, but you're welcome to if desired. Just at least bring them with you. Each rehearsal is essentially a dress rehearsal as we need to look at them each week and make tweaks.
============================
Additional items:
If you have anything that looks disco or 70s please bring it with you to each rehearsal. Example… What Hollis and Steve and others wore at the disco dress up tonight.
This is for Two reasons:
1. It might supplement your outfit
2. It might be something someone else can use/borrow
============================
Clothing Hunt:
If you are willing, please seek out additional disco or 70s type clothing from consignment stores in your area. Not required obviously, but if you see a store and I willing to stop in. See if they have anything interesting that we might be able to use.
============================
Working on your own outfit if desired:
If you are someone that really wants to get into your outfit some more and figure it out even better than what you have, here are some guidelines:
**Don't buy anything you are unsure of... take a picture of it and send it to Chris or myself or Dan Delaney first.
**Think "Dancing" when you look for extra items.
**Stay away from full leisure suits that look too formal as if attending a wedding.
**Likely no one will wear a tie, Even though we did receive some.
**We are not looking for a wild and crazy looked it makes you stand out over everyone… We all need to generally blend in...cool and appropriate for the stage.
**It's OK if your pants are snug and tight. But they should not be overly loose and baggy. In general they should fit pretty tight other than the bottom bells. They also should not be dragging on the floor.
**Shoes will be worked out once you get your pants down. Chris will consult with you about the type of shoes. No need to buy anything yet. Likely shoes can be found from what you already have or maybe something cheap just for the stage.
============================
Attached are some disco soul train outfits we will use as a guide
As of now that is all the instructions for costumes. This is quite a fun experiment, but has a few challenges to work through. Thanks for hanging with us as we try to make this as good of a look for this set, as authentic as possible, but also looking good for each guy.
Let us know if you have any questions. Please contact Chris, myself, or Dan and we can help you out. Again please bring your outfits at all additional things that you have or have obtain to each rehearsal from here on out.
