Vocal Percussionist Joined 2011 Clark's musical background covers a variety of things from marching band to opera. He began singing in church with his Dad as music minister. Throughout grade school, he participated in basically every ensemble that was available. Singing bass in the choir, playing saxophone in concert and jazz bands, and marching with the drumline. He continued into college taking on both instrumental and vocal majors at Murray State University. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity. During his college career he competed in several singing competions and won or placed in finals in each endeavor. Also, he took artist's residence in Opera in the Ozarks where he played three leads in three different operas. While singing remains his passion, rudimental drumming is another love that he continues to find some time to keep practice. While in college, he marched with the Murray State Racer Band for four years and was section leader for two of those years. He continued to teach the drumline two years after that. Newly married, he migrated to Elizabethtown, Kentucky. His wife, Kim, is a music teacher for Hardin County Schools and he is a car salesman. Shortly after the move across the state, he noticed posters and billboards showing ads for a chorus called New Horizon. He showed up to practice and became addicted to the "ring" in that sound. After singing with them for a year, he just happened to walk into a Heart of Kentucky practice where he met Aaron Dale, Rob Heady, and Erek Gillespie. They were talking about this other chorus called KVU and how they are doing these really innovative things. After a long period of contemplation, he decided to join and sing with the Kentucky Vocal Union. Barbershop is something that Clark uses to stay in vocal shape and to fulfill his need to perform. While an aspiring opera baritone, there are not a whole lot of places he would rather be every two weeks. J.J. Hawkins

Tenor / Bass
Joined 2008 Barbershop has been part of Robb's life since his second night home from the hospital, when his dad, Bill Heady, and his quartet sang around his baby bed. Robb has loved barbershop for as long as he can remember. The first quartet he recalls hearing and being aware of was the Bluegrass Student Union. As a child, they were "rock stars" to him. Robb spent countless childhood hours at his dad's rehearsals, performances, and contests. Despite this early and intense exposure to barbershop, he didn't actually sing in a chorus or quartet until 2003, when The Heart of Kentucky Men's Chorus, a non-society chorus, was formed by his dad and a few others in his hometown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Robb was immediately drawn to the challenge of learning and the reward of performing each song. Robb was charged with finding and scheduling "gigs" for the chorus and he performed this job to the fullest. The chorus has since performed over 200 times in and around central Kentucky and annually presents one of the largest Christmas shows in the state. After a few years singing with Heart of Kentucky, Robb began to think about becoming a society member and joining a competitive chorus. Soon after, he joined the New Horizon Chorus and began singing with them in 2006 and assumed Chapter VP Membership duties. New Horizon grew from 14 to 25 members and, alongside his dad and several others from Heart of Kentucly, they competed in two Cardinal District International Prelims. His time with New Horizon, under the tutelage of Allen and Kenny Hatton, was invaluable and helped prepare him for his next barbershop quest... Kentucky Vocal Union (KVU). Robb auditioned for, and joined the KVU, in January 2008. Robb is very proud to have performed with KVU on the BHS International stage in Nashville (2008), Anaheim (2009), and most recently, Kansas City in 2011. He has also competed in all three Cardinal District International Prelims Championships. To be a member of an ensemble such as KVU has always been his goal in barbershop, again mimicking his dad as he was a member of the Louisville Times from 1996-98. Singing for Aaron Dale, and with KVU, is incredibly rewarding and he looks forward to each rehearsal. Robb especially enjoys the increased intensity and focus as they prepare for the Barbershop Harmony Society International Competition each year. This year Robb is singing a new part - bass (again like his dad) on the KVU's newest contest uptune, and then singing his natural part, tenor, on their newest contest ballad. Robb eagerly anticipates the accomplishments of KVU in 2012 and years to come. Vic Lovejoy
